I just graduated university. WHAT?! Yes, I really did play Kanye’s Graduation album while I got ready, and listened to all my first year to fourth year playlists. And yes, I made the banner because I really enjoy crafts and sparkles lol.
For the ceremony, each student was guaranteed 2 tickets but it’s a lottery if you requested more and luckily I was able to score an extra ticket for my sister otherwise she would have had to watch in a tent. I also technically have two graduation ceremonies, the first for University of Toronto and the second for Sheridan College. So I’m going to have different dresses and looks for both, because why not? I’m only going to graduate once
The past 4 years had a lot of challenges I didn’t expect and to be honest there were so many times I wanted to change majors or even drop out because I wasn’t sure if it was right for me. I am really glad I stuck with it, I’m happy with my program and how much I was able to grow as an artist. I’m thankful for having the opportunity to go to school and be challenged and I’m so thankful for the wonderful support of others. Some might say I put a lot of pressure on myself but it’s what really kept me on track. When I remind myself that my parents gave up everything for my siblings and I, it helped me make sure I didn’t take my education for granted. And in the end, I stuck with my passion and did it for myself -what a feeling that was!!
I think it hasn’t really hit me that all of this is over… maybe I’ll feel differently once I have my Sheridan convocation. The ceremony went by quick and we had Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi (you might recognize them from the Italian film La Vita e Bella) receive honorary doctorates and address our class. Benigni was passionate and said something along the lines of: Fall in love now! Always look for happiness, don’t forget about her.
To me, I took that as: take risks and show your love, fall in love with yourself and the work that you do, which is something I’m always personally working on.
Here are some pictures from my graduation with lots of smiles and lots of love- I couldn’t have been more happier that day!
I wanted a dress under $100 that said something like: “Hey look I’m an adult now!” Its from H&M and my shoes are from Spring.
I want to give a big CONGRATULATIONS to the Class of 2015, we did it! You should feel so incredibly proud of yourself! KEEP ON SPARKLIN’ my cuties and best of luck in the near future- we got this! 🙂
